Workshop on Next Generation Internet at Smart Data Forum
In fall 2016 the European Commission started a new initiative, which provides engagement in the segment Next Generation Internet.
Main emphasis on European values and human perspective
The internet has become indispensable in day to day life. This is why it is more important than ever to shape the network by focusing on data security and decentralization. The goal is to create an internet, with a clear focus on human needs and capabilities in the future. It should also keep European ideals and ethical values in mind.
First steps: Open debate and workshops
The initiative approached various users with a survey, to collect relevant values to focus furthermore on users needs. Now they have planned a series of workshops to provide an open room for discussions and to share insights. You can also find the results of the open consultation in an open report by the European Commission.
